BLACK PEOPLE WHO HIKE

Our mission is empower, educate and reengage black people to the outdoors through wellness campaigns, health advocacy and community based activities including hiking, camping, kayaking, rock climbing and yoga.

ABOUT US

BPWH was founded by Debbie Njai in September of 2019. What started as a therapeutic outlet for herself, quickly turned into a global movement.   #WeHikeToo is a movement to get black people active outside in nature. Nature is a resource that should be experienced by all people and we are committed to making the outdoors more equitable for everyone.

Spending time in nature has been associated with lower levels of stress, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.

The outdoors can be a resource for everyone and we encourage you to get outside, take up space and try something new. Join us for our next adventure!
